Thank you again for all your support as we sold our house in Halifax. This was our first time selling a home without an agent involved, so we were quite hesitant at first to take the leap. But we are SO thankful that we did!
When we first called to ask questions about selling privately, you took the time to explain and demystify what is really a simple process. Then you visited our house to walk us through the information package and to offer suggestions on how to best present the house. In addition, you took our information and turned it into a narrative that captured the essence of our home extremely well.
Within 24 hours of posting the house online, we had a five showings. Two days later we had a purchase and sale agreement in place. Arriving at a price was actually quite simple - a total of 15 minutes of negotiations and we had a deal! We accomplished this so quickly as it wasn't the labourous back-and-forth process that happens when agents get involved.
With an agreement in place, you suggested a great lawyer who was quite familiar with finalizing a private sale. After that, we just waited until the closing deal.
The lesson we learned? Selling a house on our own is not nearly as complicated as you think it is. Yes, you will get lots of phone calls. And yes, you will need to make yourself available for viewings. But when we consider that we saved well over $15,000 in commission fees (plus taxes on the commission on top of that), we felt it was truly time well spent. We'd much rather have that money in our bank account!
So we are "sold". No more agents selling for us anymore!
